Gambit to Scale India Operations

By Sonal Desai, NWC, Dec. 28 2007, 1230 hrs

Gambit Communications, one of the providers in network and SNMP simulation tools that enhance the productivity of management software developers and enterprise users is scaling up India presence.

With large multinationals such as HP, Dell, Symbol and large Indian enterprises like Reliance and Wipro among some of its 400 odd global customers, Gambit has now turned its focus on the development and testing work that is being outsourced to India.

The company is targeting local enterprise customers where the network has more than 500 nodes, said Pankaj Shah, CEO, Gambit. “Outsourcing centers, companies developing network management software need our product. They can get real-time feedback on criticality. Since these companies cannot afford downtime, our virtual labs and MIMIC products offer simulated environments that give anytime, anywhere access, real-time working environment and uniformity in approach.”

MIMIC Simulator is a modular family of simulators used by leading networking vendors for use in applications from development and testing to operator training and disaster simulations.

At present, India contributes about 25 per cent of Gambit’s global revenues. The company recently opened a development center in Mumbai which is also used for Quality Assurance testing.

Shah said, “Now there is enough demand for our product. We are now focused on developing support system. We aim to hire atleast two to three sales executives in 2008.”

With its products priced between $1,000 to $80,000, the company aims to earn 0.5 million to $1 million in 2008 by selling products in the BFSI, teleco, fertilizer and petrochemical industries.
